Overview

Traffic Travis is desktop software designed to help online businesses boost their website traffic. It is an all-in-one tool for keyword research, search engine optimization, pay-per-click research and monitoring, and general website analysis.

Traffic Travis has basic tools suitable for novice webmasters, through to sophisticated (and some might say "cunning") market research/monitoring tools for experienced affiliates and internet marketers. Traffic Travis provides an astounding array of tools — many which have previously only been available in expensive software or through paid subscriptions — all rolled into one package, and all for free :)

Windows XP, Vista or 7
Internet Explorer 7 or later
Free disk space: 50MB
256MB RAM
Fast internet connection recommended

Sorry, Mac users: We don't yet have a version available for you. Click here for some options for running Traffic Travis on your Mac.

We originally built Traffic Travis for our own in-house use, and later we released it as a free bonus for subscribers to Affilorama. With Affilorama becoming free, we thought it would be nice to open up Traffic Travis to the general public as well.

Catch? There is a small catch. The free version of Traffic Travis is slightly restricted in terms of how many projects you can have, and in a few other ways. We are sure that this will be of no concern whatsoever to regular users of Traffic Travis, who might just have a few sites or campaigns they want to monitor.

The Professional v4 version of Traffic Travis is completely unrestricted, and we recommend that for people with more websites and larger PPC campaigns. And also for people who want to contribute to keeping us clothed and fed :)

The free version of Traffic Travis has a few restrictions compared to Traffic Travis v4 Professional. These include:

  • A maximum of 5 projects
  • A maximum of 100 keywords per project
  • A maximum of 5 keywords per search in SEO competition, Domain research and Keyword research tools
  • No custom logo on exported PDF reports
  • Some other restrictions on search results in certain tools

The total price of Traffic Travis Professional is US$97.

Yes, additional copies of Traffic Travis V4 are available at $57 for up up to 5 copies. Purchase them here.

Download/Registration

Please download the software from here. You will be prompted to enter the email address that you registered with, we will also send your registration code to this email address so you can use the software.

Note: If you haven't registered please do this first here

The first thing to check is that you entered your email address correctly (if you enter it again here it will let you know).

The second thing to check is that our email hasn't been mistakenly sent to your "bulk email" or "spam" folder. If this happens, find the email and do whatever you need to do to mark it as "not spam". This will stop any future messages from us going in the spam bin as well!

Please note, sometimes it can take a little while for emails to get through. This can be for any number of reasons. If it's been a few hours and you still haven't received it (and it's really not in your "spam" folder) then you might want to check with your internet service provider.

In the meantime you can sign up with a free mail service like Yahoo mail or Google mail and register again using one of these.

Please make sure there is no blank space BEFORE or AFTER the registration code when you enter it. This is what causes an invalid registration code to be detected.

The other thing you must check is that you are entering zeros as '0' and the letter o as 'o' as this can also cause the error.

Please also make sure that your security software and router (if you have one) is not blocking Traffic Travis in any way as this could also cause a problem with the registration process.

Please contact support using the contact form below, and they will 'reset' the use count on your registration code

Common Problems

We have video tutorials on how to use Traffic Travis. Please launch the software and click on Help on the top menu. Then click on Video Tutorials on the dropdown menu and you will be presented with the various functions that are part of the software. Click on whatever module you want to find out more about and a video will start running you through how to use it.

Tip: If you wish to see the video control buttons, you will need to maximize the Traffic Travis program window.

If you're having difficulty viewing the help videos inside Traffic Travis, you can click on 'Open in Default Browser' at the bottom-left of the video viewer to open the videos in your normal web browser.

Depending on a number of factors, it is possible for Google to temporarily block you while using Traffic Travis. First of all, don't worry: this doesn't affect your sites. However it will prevent you using Traffic Travis and Google for an hour or two.
To prevent this in future, it is recommended you set up some proxies in Traffic Travis by going to File > Program Options > Internet and/or set the Timer Delay (File > Program Options > Internet) which configures how quickly Traffic Travis operates for any queries that need Google; a higher value means Traffic Travis spreads the queries further apart, which reduces your chances of getting blocked (but also slows down your requests)

You need to make sure you are using Internet Explorer 7 or above, and don't have the plugin 'Google Frame' installed for IE (if you don't know what that is, then don't worry - you probably don't). If that is all correct then you should check the website by going to [url] and doing a search manually. If you are using an AdWords account, you should go to the AdWords site (http://adwords.google.com), login and make sure your account is fully set up (not asking for any account questions such as 'Select a country')

Traffic Potential is a guestimated value that Traffic Travis has calculated based on the potential amount of traffic you could get per day if you were ranking #1 in the SERPs for each of your keywords. This is based on roughly getting ~1/3 of all the search traffic of all your keywords combined.

Using an AdWords account significantly reduces the chance of you getting blocked when doing any AdWords searches. The AdWords account is also necessary for calculating Traffic Potential, and for performing Keyword Research without being prompted to fill in a Captcha. Getting an AdWords account is free, from Google AdWords so you should sign up!

Technical

In most cases this error shows up when you have Adobe Flash installed for Firefox/Chrome, but not Internet Explorer.
To double-check whether it is installed, please copy and paste this link: http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about into Internet Explorer

If you are uninstalling and reinstalling Traffic Travis for any reason at all, such as if you are moving your Traffic Travis to a new computer, you will need to backup its database so that you will still have access to the projects that you have in Traffic Travis after reinstalling.

To back up/restore your databases:

  1. Launch Traffic Travis; if you do not already have it open
  2. Click on Help in the main menu
  3. Click on Open DB Folder.
  4. This will open the database folder

From here you can copy the database folders to a backup, or copy from an old backup but make sure Traffic Travis is closed first

Getting a connection to the internet is a major part of using Traffic Travis, and this check is done as part of the update or registration process. The most common reasons of connection failures, and their solutions, are:

  1. Firewall blocks the connection (programs like Norton Internet security and Zone Alarm) - Simply allow/unblock and temporarily turn them off.
  2. Proxy web server (common in schools and work offices) - Ask your IT department, or check your proxy settings in Internet Explorer and mirror to the program.
  3. Dialup users - If you are a dialup user, make sure that you connect to the internet, then try again.

Traffic Travis only supports the standard sitemap.xml format
